Logos and their meaning - Part 4

In this blog post we will be going through the thoughtful decisions, strategic symbolism, and narrative behind the seemingly simple lines, shapes and typography of the in use version of 3 different companies' logos.

Baskin and robins

The logo is a combination mark with a monogram and a wordmark.

The monogram is brown with the internal parts being pink representing 31. 31 stands for the company’s belief that their guests should have the opportunity to explore a fun, new ice cream flavour every day of the month.

Nike

The Nike logo is made up of an abstract logomark and a wordmark. The abstract logomark is a  Swoosh that is a simple, curved checkmark.

The swoosh stands for motion, speed, and represents the wing of the goddess Nike, the Ancient Greek goddess of victory, from whose name the brand derived its name.

The simplicity of the design makes it versatile and easy to recognize.

Lufthansa

The Lufthansa logo is composed of an emblem and a wordmark.

The emblem is made up of a crane flying high wrapped inside a circle. The crane is depicted with its wings outstretched, creating a shape that resembles an airplane. It also represents flight, freedom, reliability and elegance.
